Covid-19, a blessing in disguise | Allah s.w.t. in Surah al-Insyirah mentioned that:
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Quran 94: 5-6
Allah has promised ease for every hardship. Every cloud has a silver lining. This proverb describes Covid-19 situation well.
Undeniably, some people are facing real challenges in this turbulent period, economically, socially, and mentally. Lack of income pushed families to ration food carefully. Domestic violence cases are reported increasing. Some people shared about ‘social claustrophobic’ because of staying in a space too long with the same few people.
I am grateful cause I stayed with positive friends in this period. Every day, there are always projects going on – cooking, cleaning and home improvements. What makes these more meaningfuk is the fact that fasting month and Hari Raya coming soon. The place we’re staying is a cosy and spacious two-storey house, near supermarkets, convenient shop, restaurants and pet shop. Despite the occasional disturbance, our home wireless broadband is a big help in our lives nowadays.
Let me share with you how I see Covid-19 as a blessing in disguise:
Air and water quality improve
Our cooking skill improves
One of the entertaining activities we can do at home with family is enjoying home-cooked meals. And this is the best time to do so. Sharing food on social media has became a norm. But a Facebook group “Masak Apa Tak Jadi Hari Ini” has taken this norm to a whole new level.
This group, which name in Malay literally translates to “Goner Food Today”, features home-cooked food that are inedible or cooking turned disastrous moments by their own group members. It contains hilarious videos and photos. What makes it even funnier is how many can relate as amateur cooks. Check them out on Facebook in the link below:

Although online training and conferences are available on many platforms, the pandemic lockdown has forced may organizers to bring many more things online. This enables many more people to participates in training and courses all over the world unlike before. For me, this means seeing more of my favourite people online, like Prof Muhaya, Pak Nasrullah, Gary Vee, Kerwin Rae, Mel Robbins and many more.
Other than that, I get to participate in more Toastmasters meetings from all over the world through Zoom conference. The location that had hindered me from doing this has become obsolete cause we’re all bringing our Toastmasters club meetings online now.

Check out my Toastmasters Club info in the links below.
If you’re badly affected by the pandemic, I hope you’ll get better and calmer soon. After all, human is the most resilience species on Earth. We will survive this.
So, what other things you see as blessings in disguise during this lockdown? Do share with me.
I’ve tried lots of new recipes and cook with my boys.
Great! If not cause MCO, maybe we won’t have this much time with family right…
Haraplah semuanya akan cepat berakhir dan kita bebas bergerak ke sana ke sini…
Itulah. Tapi tetap kena hati-hati kan. Mask n social distance tetap kena buat.
